Important News for Fans of Shakespeare Santa Monica

Dear Friends,

What an amazing ride it has been! After 11 years and 23 joy-filled productions I have decided to fold up our well-worn tents and shutdown the Tennis Court Lights for an indefinite hiatus.

I am sending you this bittersweet note to inform you that our beloved Shakespeare Santa Monica will not be returning this August or next Summer. We're taking a little break.

It has been an incredible decade of Shakespeare and I wanted to take a moment to thank every single one of you for taking this delightful, joyous, event-filled journey through 11 Summers with us.

Below are the shows we produced at REED PARK over the past 11 YEARS for Pay-What-You-Can and FREE to Teens and Kids – Which ones did you see? If you saw even one of them than you are in my hearts forever!

We more than achieved my original goals for Shakespeare Santa Monica. We all got to train together and explore together every Summer. It was something that I really looked forward to every year. Just look, we produced a body of work together! We accomplished a lot. What a Triumph.

We gave away thousands of tickets over the years. Lots of Young People experienced their first Shakespeare with us! I will never forget the 6 little girls who came up to me after the production of Romeo and Juliet in 2005 to say how much they enjoyed it with tears in their eyes. We were the first production they ever saw and I am certain it will stay with them forever.

To Our Audiences, Thank you for all your support, thank you for the laughs. We hope to see you sometime in the future.

Meantime, please stay a FAN we will use this page over the next year or two to alert you of awesome Shakespeare Events, Fascinating Theatre Articles and any updates on our status.

With Much Love and Fond Memories,

John Farmanesh-Bocca, Artistic Director
